Reviews for Giovanni's Pizzeria - Albuquerque
Review highlights
Based on 1,334 reviewsGiovanni's Pizzeria is widely praised for delivering consistently flavorful and authentic Italian-style pizza that resonates with patrons accustomed to East Coast standards. Customers frequently highlight the use of savory ingredients, thin and foldable slices, and well-balanced toppings that closely mimic traditional New York and New Jersey pizza. The quality of both the pizza and complementary items like marinara sauce and cheesy bread receive strong commendation. Service is noted as friendly and attentive, with efficient order handling, even for large groups requiring advance arrangements. While the location is sometimes described as less inviting, the welcoming atmosphere inside and the presence of local patrons, including law enforcement, contribute positively to the dining experience. Overall, Giovanni's Pizzeria earns a reputation for exceptional taste consistency, excellent portion sizes, and a warm, customer-focused environment, making it a favored choice within the Albuquerque pizza scene.
Friendly staff and great tasting pizza! Coming from the east coast, not a single place compared (sorry, not sorry it’s the truth). A good majority of places in New Mexico we’ve tried have been bland and tasteless, but NOT Giovanni’s. Their ingredients are very savory and the slices are thin and can be folded. We agree that they have the flavor and taste consistency of back home Jersey, Philly & NY style, and for that I am grateful. I would say it’s on the expensive side and wish they had promo coupons, but we haven’t seen any... and sometimes the crust is burnt, but that’s minor. Every order has been easy and consistent other than that. So thankful this place is here, thank you Giovanni’s!
From small to large orders, this is the place to go for pizza in ABQ! We got pizza for 58 people. Ordered a couple days ahead. It was ready right on time, cooked to perfection, and carried out to the car with a smile. One big 18” pizza with toppings feeds 6 people if you’re wondering. Probably 5 people if it’s just cheese.
Great service very nice folks. Had there cheese slice and and slice with sausage. Cheese slice is a 7.9 very good great crispy slice. With sausage a solid 8.3. The sausage has a strong flavor mixing very well with the sauce and cheese. The slice is hot n crispy which I love. Definitely will be back it’s very good pizza. Yes I’m judgy cause I’m from Chicago. Lol.
The pizza was some of the best pizza I have ever had along with the marinara sauce that stuff was on point! The service was good, and the cheesy bread was better than any bread sticks from any pizzeria. I strongly recommend visiting and giving a 5 star.
I don't know how I missed this place for so long because it's definitely by far the best pizza I've ever had anywhere in New Mexico and possibly anywhere outside of the New York City / New Jersey area. True, it's in a terrible neighborhood, but when we went on a Sunday night there were no fewer than FOUR police cars parked right outside and a whole bunch of them eating dinner in the restaurant. It was just my son and I and we had no difficulty polishing off an 18" large pie with pepperoni, mushrooms, and black olives. Perfection on a plate; the mushrooms were unusually flavorful and the pepperoni delightfully crispy on the edges. The crust was delicious and there was just the right amount of oil. Even the crushed ice in the coke was noteworthy. My only very slight complaint is that the Coke had a faint hint of Dr Pepper, which is definitely not a good thing. There was a fair amount of take out going on which is always a good sign. Decor is fascinating. Six stars warranted.
It was my first time at this spot. I am so disappointed that I didn't find this place sooner in Albuquerque. Who would have thought there would be a great New York style pizzeria here?!? Everyone raves about Dions pizza, but honestly, this place is where it's at for pizza!! I had the ham and pineapple, pepperoni and green chile, and pepperoni!! All were amazingly delicious!! They don't sell alcohol or beer, but it was still great! I can't wait to go back!!
SUPERB pizza place! Cheese bread was fantastic and the OG pepperoni and cheese was spot on, thin with a crispy bottom yet chewy crust with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. Definitely the best spot around town imo. Will return a lot. Also, the house made cannoli was fantastic!
I’ve been coming here for years! Giovanni’s always hits the spot for some great pizza. Friendly staff, the restaurant definitely teleports you and doesn’t feel like you’re in Albuquerque. Highly recommend to come and check out Giovanni’s.
